Tyrannosaurus Press does not believe in the draconian restrictions of digital rights management (DRM) or in the anti-sharing policies of some others in this industry. We refrain from using such technologies except when required by our vendors, and do our best to encourage the legitimate sharing of our titles. We believe that our two most fundamental goals are to 1) find and publish quality of works of speculative fiction, and 2) help our authors find a reading audience for their books. DRM and other efforts to restrict the easy flow of content is not helpful to either goal.
We want our books read, and we encourage readers to share our books, either directly, by lending a printed copy to a friend or by sharing ebook files, or simply by encourging another reader to find our book at their local library. The more people who have read our books, the more people we hope will want to read them in the future.
It is important to remember, though, that without the support of readers, it is impossible for publishers and authors to continue producing books. If a reader discovers and enjoys one of our books without having purchased it, we request a donation to help us fund future projects. We recommend a donation at least equal to the cost of the ebook (or recommend that people just purchase the ebook from us), but the final donation amount is left to the individual reader. We appreciate your support no matter what.
Patronage is about more than dollar amount. It is about recognizing the effort an author puts into producing a work, and about showing appreciation for the risk he or she takes in releasing that work to the criticisms of the reading public.
